I went back to school last week and haven't gotten the chance to write because I have been very busy starting school and working again.
Im really sad because they are separating the boys and the girls at school again.
Last year, in 1979, I was in a French non-religious school where they put the boys and girls together, which was fun and different! It was great, but now this year, an Iranian political leader (with a creepy beard and unibrow--i put a photo I took of him below to show you!!) made a speech after school ended last year about how he thinks "all bilingual schools must be closed down" because "they are symbols of capitalism." I didn't even know what capitalism was, but i just looked it up in the dictionary and it means: "an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state." Hmm. That sounds pretty complicated and i don't really understand it. He also said it was a symbol of decadence, which I found out is "moral or cultural decline as characterized by excessive indulgence in pleasure or luxury." I really don't agree with him, but he didn't care about that. He cared about the people who followed him and liked his thoughts, and ended up calling the situtation a "culture revolution," and he made us wear our veils and separated us girls from the boys. I have so many friends that are boys and i can't believe he separated them from me and all of my other girl friends!!!!! I'm mad at that and also at the fact that, now i am back at a religious school, i have to wear the veil again. >:( Now i don't look forward to going to school. I hate all this new regime stuff and all the new laws and rules.
Tonight I am going to my friend Maraha's house. hopefully that will distract me from everything else going on!
Your friend,
Marji
